MARKETING MANAGER - CIM QUALIFIED

SINCE APR 2018

Shortly after joining Jet Press I was promoted to Marketing Manager and therefore extended my task field immensely. Instead of simply concentrating on the German market I am now responsible for strategically marketing Jet Press within the industrial, automotive, as well as the furniture market in UK and globally. I am managing the workload of the marketing team, including a marketing assistant, a content writer, as well as two interns. In my position I am responsible to develop, execute and adjust the marketing plan.

Personally, I find one of the most important tasks in marketing is to be able to collect and read data correctly to optimize the performance. Which is why in the early days of my new position I implemented the right conversion tracking on the website to measure success and monitor the website performance. I also implemented a core product list from which I extracted an initial keyword list to improve the SEO performance of the website.

Even though, I am mainly responsible for our SEO performance I think it is important to have an emancipated team, which is why straight from the beginning I set time a site to pass on my knowledge and help the team understanding SEO, including all Google tools and keyword optimisation tools. It is essential for all of us to understand how SEO affects organic traffic, as well as ads, to ensure we all work towards the same standards. For example is it important for the content writer to understand why he has to focus on specific keywords in order to rank organically and for the marketing assistant to know how to find the most suitable keywords herself for new products that are added to the website.

Within the last year Jet Press has started to invest immensely in its marketing, which enabled me to lead Jet Press to a customer lifecycle marketing. We now think about the most valuable personas first, which are identified between the department heads and me, and then establish the most profitable customer journeys. All campaigns are delivered with HubSpot and are measured by their return on investment.

During my time at Jet Press I have learned that good marketing needs passion and creativity, as much as reliable data and the capabilities to read the data to make informed decisions. As a Marketing Manager I think it is important to find the right balance between achieving business goals, whiles taking the time to motivate the team and help them to develop their skills further.

STARTED AS:

MARKETING CONTENT DEVELOPER

AUG 2017 - MAR 2018

Moving to the United Kingdom I was convinced I had to leave anything related to marketing behind; since no matter how good you speak a language, contentwise you will never be able to deliver the same quality as a native speaker. But luckily the engineered fastener supplier Jet Press contacted me and offered me a job as a Marketing Content Developer for the German market. I quickly realised marketing is much more than good content.

I started my new role in august 2017 and I was mainly responsible for the German website, as well as offline marketing activities within the German market. In regards to the website I firstly had to ensure that all products and pages are translated correctly and also improve the SEO performance, through restructuring pages for keyword optimisation. I also released a new blog article each week, presenting Jet Press as a market expert, concentrating on case studies and other success stories.

My first marketing project was the implementation of a sample box specified to the German market and its delivery to selected customers, which had a great impact and led to an increase in sales. Besides I also found a way to bring down the cost of printed catalogue send outs by 65%.

I realised that the current customer service team was understaffed and therefore could not pick up the new leads I was generating within 24 hours. Since nothing is more deadly to a customer focused business than not focusing on the customer, I suggested to get involved and work on incoming leads. I qualified leads and ensured they were picked up within 2 hours. Shortly after the company employed extra help in the customer service team.

PR & EVENT MARKETING

2013 - 2015

My first experiences in the marketing field are dating back to 2013 during my internship at Club Bahnhof Ehrenfeld in Cologne. After graduating I had the chance to work as a cultural manager for Die Weberei in my hometown Gütersloh. One part of this job was public relations. I strategised marketing plans, maintained the website, wrote press releases and created newsletters with MailChimp. The social media marketing mainly included Facebook activities.

I planned and monitored these with the FB Business Manager, for which I had as well training provide by Facebook (Start to success course). I build up relationships with radio and newspaper reporters, who were always happy to support us with extra articles, interviews or competitions. Another part of my job was to schedule the billposting, which had to be done in a sensible way to minimise costs, whilst retaining a high level of awareness. Any necessary designs were provided by freelancers, who I supervised and then ordered for the printed posters via an online portal, or they came directly from the agencies.
